 Renovating, extending or building a new home, can be a daunting and stressful process if you choose the wrong person for the job. During your interviews, find out as much as possible about their company, their process and their experience.

PJH Constructions have put together 15 easy questions to ask your builder to ensure you have the right one. Listen carefully to the answers they give you to each question.

1. Are you an insured and licenced builder?
2. How long have you been in the industry?    
3. What is your past experience?
4. Do you sign on a fixed price contract?
5. What is the expected duration of the construction?
6. Between what hours of the day can I contact you?
7. Will you be on site or do you have a project manager?
8. Can i customize my home, or am i limited in what i can change or add?
9. How often is the site cleaned?
10. Are you workers - employees or subtractors?
11. How much disruption of the construction work will be effected?
12. What consideration do you give my neighbours?
13. Do you have the finances to take on the job?
14. Do they have the capacity to handle the job?
15. What sets you apart from other builders?

Be sure to select a builder you can communicate easily with and feel comfortable enough to work with.
